Watch RoboCop Throw Out First Pitch At Detroit Tigers Game
  |  @   |

You have to love crazy cross promotion, and we got a good example of it when RoboCop came home to Detroit to throw out the first pitch at Tuesday’s baseball game between the Detroit Tigers and the Toronto Blue Jays at Comerica Park. This was of course done to promote the release of 2014’s RoboCop on Blu-Ray and DVD. Some fans at the stadium for this specially dubbed RoboCop Day received a commemorative RoboCop poster and the Blu-ray edition of the 2014 film.

Check out the video of the first pitch here below, along with some photos from the event.

Along with attending the game, RoboCop also took the time this week to visit other Detroit hotspots like The Monument to Joe Louis, The Spirit of Detroit, and 8 Mile, as well as some radio stations AND he even reportedly did the weather report on local Fox affiliate WJBK-TV.

A press event at The Detroit Police Department was supposed to take place today to announce the location of the long-gestating RoboCop statue that is being built in the city, but that event was cancelled after the statue’s final destination could not be confirmed, according to a press release sent out late last night.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like they got Peter Weller to don the classic suit. They just got some guy to dress up in the new suit. At least whoever it was in the suit didn’t embarrass themselves, even with the armor and such, although, perhaps the RoboCop suit is not the best attire for pitching.
