Live-Action ‘Beauty and The Beast’ On The Way From Disney, ‘The Twilight Saga’ Director Bill Condon
  |  @   |

Another classic Disney animated movie is getting a live-action makeover from the company, following in the footsteps of titles like Alice in Wonderland, the recently released Maleficent, and upcoming releases Cinderella and The Jungle Book.

The latest title getting the treatment is Beauty and the Beast, which of course became one of Disney’s all-time greats in 1991 when the animated feature of the same name was released, even going on to score a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards—the first ever animated feature to do so.

The live-action take on Beauty and the Beast will be directed by Bill Condon, who directed Gods and Monsters (which he also won a screenwriting Oscar for), Kinsey, Dreamgirls, and both parts of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. He also wrote the screenplay for Best Picture winning musical Chicago, for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

This latest retelling of the story will be written by Evan Spiliotopoulos, who has penned Disney sequels The Jungle Book 2, The Lion King 1 1/2, Tarzan II, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, and the prequel The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning.

If you can’t wait for a newer live-action take on the movie, you can always seek out the impressive looking La Belle et la Bete as well.
