Top 5 Superhero Video Games
  |

There have been a ton of superhero games that have come out over the years. But let’s be real, a lot of them have been pretty bad. Superhero games are in fact notorious for being bad, but there are a few exceptions.

So without further ado, here are the Top 5 Superhero Video Games.

5. Injustice: Gods Among Us

Mortal Kombat is my favorite fighting franchise of all time. What could possible make it better? Make a game with bunch of DC superheroes and villains! Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was a big giant flop, but Injustice: Gods Among Us was able rise above that and prove that a DC fighting game could be done. Injustice has a great cast with each character having vastly different moves. It is just overall a really good fighting game and is a lot of fun to play.

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time

Are they technically superheroes? I don’t know. But I do know that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time is awesome. There’s nothing like some old school beat’em up action. What started out as an arcade brawler was ported to the SNES and both versions are pretty great. I mean come on it had really good graphics for the time, and solid gameplay with a variety of levels and enemies. They don’t quite make them like this anymore (Just look at that horror fest that was TMNT: Out of the Shadows which came out last year”¦YIKES!) Man, I might go play this game right now”¦Cowabunga dude!

3. Marvel Ultimate Alliance

Marvel Ultimate Alliance was an extremely fun well-polished game. You had a team of four superheroes that you could play co-op with, or you could play solo and switch between them. The game had a huge roster of heroes to choose from and had a lot variety in everything from combat to level design. This was just overall a really good superhero game.

2. The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction

This is perhaps the best/most appropriate title for a game ever. The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is what was promised and it was delivered. You can use cars as boxing gloves. You can take down helicopters, smash buildings, pretty much destroy anything you want. Is Hulk really being heroic if he is destroying a city? Who cares, let’s just HULK SMASH everything in sight!

1. Batman: Arkham City

This was a tossup between Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Both games are obviously amazing and could be at the top of the list. But I went with Arkham City because it took what Arkham Asylum had and improved upon it. But what both Arkham games did right is they understood Batman. The stealth mechanics worked really well, the combat was great, Detective mode was cool, everything about these games were just great. The Arkham series showed everyone how to make a good superhero game and hopefully others can learn from these games.

So there’s the list. Was there ever any doubt that one of the Arkham games would not be number one? So what do you think? What is your favorite superhero game? And what games do you think belong on this list?

  1. … The turtles ain’t superheroes, man. Seems like padding the list.

Which is ridiculous, since you’ve overlooked Spider-Man 2.

  3. The turtles are super heroes. They’re mutated and do things people and turtles can’t do there’s the super part. And they beat up bad guys and help people, theres the hero part.

  4. Injustice is in here and not Spider-Man 2, Deadpool or Lego Batman? Really?

  5. You forgot the best superhero game of all…..City of Heroes!

  6. Why aren’t they superheroes? Because they don’t have lasers coming out of their eyes or super strength? Then any non-powered character like Green Arrow or Batman are not superheroes either, which I don’t think anyone would agree with.

  7. LEGO Marvel Superheroes
