North Korea Blasts Seth Rogen and James Franco’s ‘The Interview’
  |  @   |

The supreme leader of the Glorious Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea isn’t to pleased with how he is being depicted or that he is the butt of the joke in the new Seth Rogen and James Franco-starring vehicle The Interview. Considering the premise of the film has two journalists (Rogen and Franco) being recruited into the CIA and assigned to assassinate Kim Jong Un, you’d probably be a little mad, too.

We’ve already seen a hilarious trailer for the film, which shows that the CIA may have given the assignment to the wrong people. But this is the first time we are actually hearing from Jong-un talking about being the subject of the film. Hit the jump to hear what he is saying.

Speaking to The Telegraph, a spokesperson for Jong-un had this to say about The Interview:

There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the US government and American society. A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the US has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine. And let us not forget who killed [President John F.] Kennedy – Americans. In fact, President [Barack] Obama should be careful in case the US military wants to kill him as well.

I’m not going to lie, the statement starts to make sense in the beginning, but then it starts to trail off after he mentions JFK.

But in a strange twist, the spokesman also says that the dictator would probably watch the film anyway. He also learned that he has a taste for British spy films, particularly of the James Bond variety. According to the report, “those films are much more enjoyable.” Wonder how he feels about Die Another Day since the main antagonists have a North Korean getting plastic surgery to become a white person.

The Interview opens in theaters on October 10, 2014.

And here is the trailer just in case you missed it.

  1. certainly it’s not the first time that hollywood makes fun of a tense situation between countries; remember Hot Shots part deux? or Naked Gun?
