72-Minute “Teaser” Trailer For 720-Hour Longest Film Ever ‘Ambiancé’
  |  @   |

Trying to figure out artists is a futile task; they undoubtedly create some incredible things, but at the same time, they also tend to do things beyond comprehension.

Enter Anders Weberg, a Swedish artist out to beat the record for the longest film ever made. The current record is held by a film titled Modern Times Forever, which runs a quick 10 days in length. The comedy of experimental cinema, if you will. Weberg’s film, Ambiancé, will run 720 hours, which equals out to 30 days in length. And if that wasn’t enough to boggle your mind, the filmmaker says that the film will have one single, global screening when it’s completed in the year 2020, and then be destroyed before he retires from filmmaking forever. Artists!

To give you just a little teeny tiny taste of the movie, a “teaser” trailer has been released for Ambiancé that clocks in at 72 minutes. That’s longer than Dumbo, folks. If you want to give it a go (or just watch a little bit), you can do so below…but do hurry, as the teaser is only available until July 20th.

On December 31, 2020 the Swedish artist Anders Weberg end his 20 plus years relation with the moving image as a means of creative expression. After more than 300 films he puts an end with the premiere of what will be the longest film ever made.

Ambiancé is 720 hours long (30 days) and will be shown in its full length on a single occasion syncronised in all the continents of the world and then destroyed.

In the piece Ambiancé space and time is intertwined into a surreal dream-like journey beyond places and is an abstract nonlinear narrative summary of the artist’s time spent with the moving image .
A sort of memoir movie . (Film memoir ) . This in the visual expression that is constantly characterized the work throughout the artists career.

If this teaser trailer just isn’t enough, you can check back in the year 2016, when a trailer running seven hours and 20 minutes will be released. If THAT isn’t enough, a 72-hour trailer will be released in 2018, a couple of years before the final cut arrives and disappears after one one-month-long screening.

You can follow the progress of Ambiancé at thelongestfilm.com.

Warning: While everything in the trailer is artistic, there is some content that some people would consider NSFW.
