I’m always asked, particularly by people of my age range who grew up in the ’80s, “why aren’t there any great straight-up heavy rock bands anymore?” By this they usually mean bands with clean singing, where you can understand the lyrics and the instrumentation is neither grinding nor racing along at a breakneck pace while covering every scale known to man. In other words, a heavy band that you might have heard on the radio back in the heyday of heavy rock with memorable riffs and melodies.
Well, if you count yourself among those people, Lo Pan just might be the band for you. If you can imagine the lovechild of Tool and Kyuss, you’ve got a pretty good idea of what Lo Pan are all about.
Check out a track listing and cover art for Lo Pan’s next album below, along with an audio sample of the band.
