There have been comics for Star Trek and Planet of the Apes pretty much since both franchises began, but no one’s had the bright idea to bring the two together in a crossover – that is, until now. IDW Publishing and BOOM! Studios have announced that they are joining forces for Star Trek/Planet of the Apes: The Primate Directive. There were no release details at this time.
Check out the first cover here below.
The series will bring together the original series crew of the USS Enterprise with the original 1970s version of the Apes. There aren’t a lot of plot details, but what we do know is that the series will be written by Scott Tipton and David Tipton, who have worked on the Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2 crossover, so they at least have some experience with goofy crossovers. Art for the series will be by newcomer Rachael Scott.
I wish there were more details at this time, but I’ll just have to let your imagination wander at the possibilities of this series. Check out the cover for the first issue below. Do you think you’ll pick this up?
