BOOM! Studios Announce ‘Escape From New York’ Comic Book Series
  |  @   |

BOOM! Studios already has one pretty successful comic book adaptation of a John Carpenter/Kurt Russell 1980s movie under their belt with Big Trouble in Little China. Now, the publisher has officially announced a second series based on another cult classic, Escape from New York.

Starting in December, writer Christopher Sebela (High Crimes, and Dead Letters) will chronicle the ongoing adventures of Snake Plissken, ex-soldier and all around badass. The original film detailed his adventure to save the President after Air Force One crash lands in the now prison island of Manhattan. I say continuing adventures, although I’m not sure if the series will be a retelling of the original movie or a sequel, and if it is a sequel if they’ll continue the story on from the actual movies sequel, Escape from L.A.

There’s no artist named for the series yet, but you can take a look at the original teaser from BOOM!, drawn by Eric Powell as well as two covers, one by Tim Bradstreet and the other by Riley Rossmo, and remember, you’re the Duke of New York. You’re A Number One!

Update – Issue #1 and Issue #2 are available now.
