Filming On ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ To Resume Later This Month

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to resume filming later this month, according to THR.

Production on the highly anticipated addition to the Star Wars film franchise was put on a 2-week hiatus earlier this month to accommodate star Harrison Ford, who sustained an injury on set in June. The 71-year-old actor, who is reprising his role as Han Solo, suffered a broken leg while shooting his scenes at Pinewood Studios and subsequently underwent surgery.

THR reports that their sources have not confirmed whether Ford would be flying back to the UK set to join director JJ Abrams’ production. The actor was injured on set after a hydraulic door fell on him — namely, the door of Han Solo’s ship, the Millennium Falcon.

Little is known at this time about Episode VII and there are still some actors cast whose characters have not yet been revealed, but we know that the story will take place 30 years after the events in 1983’s Return of the Jedi, the final film of the original trilogy.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2015, and will reunite Ford with his original trilogy co-stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, and introduce newcomers to the franchise John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow.
