Guillermo del Toro, Hideo Kojima Team For ‘Silent Hill’ Game Starring Norman Reedus
  |  @   |

Visionary director Guillermo del Toro (The Devil’s Backbone, Pan’s Labyrinth) is teaming up with the legendary gamemaker behind the Metal Gear series, Hideo Kojima, to deliver a new entry in the classic survival horror video game series Silent Hill, and it will star The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus.

Now that’s a mouthful. A mouthful of awesome. You can learn more and watch trailers and gameplay below!

One of the games at the Gamescom 2014 convention was a new horror simply called P.T., which was shared via a trailer that offered very little information, just strange and creepy imagery and some reaction shots. Even odder, it was announced that there was a playable interactive teaser of the game available on PlayStation 4 right that moment. A very unique, very cool way to introduce a game to the world.

Then came the big surprise. When the demo was completed by Soapy Warpig, Kojima, del Toro, and Reedus were revealed along with the official title Silent Hills. Nothing else is known of the game, but full props for executing an impressive mystery tease and big reveal.

Once upon a time del Toro was trying to make his own video game, but it’s not known whether this means that project has been scrapped or if he just found another project too good to resist getting involved with.

The director has also worked with Reedus in the past on Blade II. Geeks of Doom was able to ask Reedus back in 2009 if he’d ever like to work with him again, he said:

“I would give my right arm. He’s the baddest. Such a fun guy to watch work. So talented, you know, but also remains pure in his vision and innocent like a kid. He gets so stoked when he’s watching it happen. So fun, that guy. I would do a dog food commercial for Guillermo.”

Surely a video game with Hideo Kojima was not the way either of them envisioned working with each other in the future. Funny how things work out.

Kojima’s name has been loosely attached to the Silent Hill franchise for a couple of years now after Konami contacted him about making the next game in the series. Apparently that worked out well.

On top of all of that, a picture of del Toro with Kojima and Gears of War lead designer Cliff Bleszinski came out of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Who knew there was more to that than a simple photo-op.

You can watch the Silent Hills secret ending discovery below (apparently you have to do things a certain way to get this), as well as a video of the creepy and awesome full teaser demo if you don’t have a PS4 to play it. I’m tempted to get the console just to play this myself.
