True Blood has met the true death with last night’s series finale, titled “Thank You.” It strange to think that we won’t be returning to Bon Temps, LA, and the world of vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, faeries, and other supernatural creatures who mingled in with the regular human folk, but that’s the reality of it. It was a great ride while it lasted, but now all we can do is look back in fondness on the HBO series, which ran seven seasons.
HBO has released a featurette that begins with the very last scene of the series, along with 6 minutes of behind-the-scenes of that final 30 or so seconds, as well as other parts of the episode.
Obviously, if you haven’t seen the series finale of True Blood, this video contains SPOILERS!
Also, if you are a fan of the show and have followed the HBO series from the beginning, watching the “wrap” call-outs for some of the cast members might get you a little misty-eyed – I know it did for me. I’m going to miss True Blood so much. I had read the first five books of Charlaine Harris’ The Southern Vampire Mysteries series when I found out that HBO and Alan Ball, who was just coming off of the network’s Six Feet Under, would be developing a series based on the books. I couldn’t imagine how they would bring this world to life, and while the tons was sometimes different from the books, I think the television show really created something special – a universe in which fans will never forget and always treasure.
