Faith No More Recording New Album For 2015 Release!

Get ready for “The Real Thing”! After months of teasing and speculation, Faith No More announced that they will be releasing a brand new original studio album in April 2015, 18 years after Album Of The Year came out in 1997 (The Very Best Definitive Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection was released in 2009 in conjunction with their reunion tour).

No name for the album yet, but they are “pretty far into it,” according to bassist Billy Gould when he sat down with Rolling Stone. And they are doing it by themselves. Reclamation Records is the band’s own. Ipecac Recordings (love the name!) is owned by singer Mike Patton. The Oakland rehearsal space is theirs. It’s just the five of them and no one else, which leads to the exciting question:

What happens when five talented and unique musicians lose the constraints that barely restrained them?

An “Epic” masterpiece, pun intended.

The Faith No More reunion tour was from 2009-2012, with the Album Of The Year lineup: vocalist Mike Patton, drummer Mike Bordin, bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist Roddy Bottom, and guitarist Jon Hudson. The band had mainstream success with their 1989 release The Real Thing, thanks to their hit song “Epic” and its video.

In 2014, the band came back to open for Black Sabbath in Hyde Park, London. Two new songs debuted in that set, “Motherfucker” and “Leader of Men.” “Motherfucker” will be released as a 7-inch single on Record Store Day Black Friday, November 28th, with a digital release on December 9th.

Head over to Rolling Stone to see more of what Gould had to say.

Stroll down memory lane with me. Getting chills yet?
