The Doctor Who TARDISblend 74: Robot Of Sherwood
  |

The roots of legend and folklore come to life, as the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) takes Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) to visit historic Sherwood Forest in 1190, only to find Robin Hood (Tom Riley) witness their arrival. But Robin Hood’s just a story… isn’t he?

During TARDISblend 74, we discuss our reactions to the latest episode written by Mark Gatiss, titled “Robot of Sherwood” – and compare to his previous writings on the series. Later, we speculate on how some elements may tie into the overarching plot running through this current series of Doctor Who.

All this and more on the latest TARDISblend!

Presented by Greg Davies (cGt2099 from The BLENDOVER Podcast and The Heavy Metal Historian Podcast) and geek journalist Tom Cheredar of VentureBeat, TARDISblend is a podcast that takes a look at the ongoing adventures in the Doctor Who Universe – as Peter Capaldi makes his beginnings as the next Doctor!

  2. Wow! Harsh guys.. lol You’re points are heard and my kids did absolutely enjoy it. I’m really looking forward to getting back to scary territory next week with Moffat. I know people throw shade at his episodes, but I still think he’s brilliant.

  3. Hi guys,
With ref to your Ep03 comments….
Occasionally, Doctor Who humour is like a very good vintage wine,
Sometime it doesn’t travel very well.
Not meaning to come across at all racist, but we UK folk?, (questionable after 18th September referendum of course) do love a jolly good romp (as this was). The London West End and theatres across the country have been flogging this type of entertainment for years.
A bit like pantomime really, Jolly bawdy fun. Benny Hill, the Pythons! Even the Bard did his fair share.
On saying that, as a young child of school age, having just learned of the legends of the Green Wood forest boys in Nottingham, this episode would have been so cool and exciting. That mashing up of history and sci-fi.
Alas! to see Doctor Who through the eyes of a child?
the heady days of youth….Can you really remember what it was like?
On that thought….vive la revolution ;)x
    Ticketyboo…..

  5. Yes, we were a bit harsh this episode… perhaps too harsh. But as we mentioned in the show, episodes like “Robot of Sherwood” may actually lend more context later in this season. Our harshness may lighten a little – and we’re only 3 episodes in so far!

    Thanks so much!!
