Season five of The Vampire Diaries shows no intention of slowing down. It’s college time for vamps Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola)! After finally getting Silas (Paul Wesley) out of their lives (or so they think) and graduating from high school (finally! Did they even GO to class?), they are ready for the entire college experience-classes, studying, and frat parties. Elena and Damon (Ian Somelhalder) are finally happy. But…as per usual, a dead body mars the beginning of college, thrusting the girls into a vampire experimenting mystery. Not everyone is where they are supposed to be. Jeremy (Stephen R. McQueen) is back from the dead. Bonnie (Kat Graham) is dead but making Jeremy hide it. Stefan is locked underwater eternally drowning and hallucinating while Silas is masquerading around as him. Katherine is back and has a daughter, Nadia (Olga Fonda). Eventually, they get Bonnie back but as an anchor between the two worlds. That anchor is fragile and everyone has an agenda for the other side.

Season five gives us more doppelgängers than ever this season, which can make for some confusion. There are more travelers (who can also look like current characters) also throwing fans (and our heroes) for a loop. This Blu-ray/ DVD/ Digital HD combo pack will clear that confusion away. And by the end of this season, we will have some old favorites back, causing us to possibly lose some other faves in the process.

Well…at least everyone is still pretty.

The Vampire Diaries Season six premieres Thursday, October 2nd on the CW.
