I, like many others, have fond memories of watching the game show Double Dare on Nickelodeon as a kid. The show saw teams facing off in a mixture of trivia and extra messy challenges for the right to take on the super sloppy final obstacle course.
The show was hosted by Marc Summers, who’s gone on to produce and appear on various shows, most notably on Food Network. Summers was recently asked about the possibility of rebooting the game show, to which he replied that he’s actually been wanting to bring it back, but there’s been speedbumps.
Continue reading to see what Summers had to say about a reboot, and why it might not ever happen.
When asked about the reboot, Summers said:
“Here’s the deal. I would love to do some form or fashion of it. Let’s just say that right now … the people who run the Nickelodeon network and I don’t necessarily see eye to eye. I’ve been trying to make nice to those people, but they refuse to talk to me.I think they think I’m way too old to do it. I still have the energy and I think I could. So I’m putting a call out to the folks at Nick: return the phone calls, have a discussion.”
Double Dare has already seen different variations such as Family Double Dare, and was rebooted once before with Double Dare 2000.
You can see a video of Summers answering the question over at The Huffington Post.
Yes! Bring back double dare.
