Will Ferrell's SuperMegaBlastMax Gamer Challenge

Want a chance to hang out and play video game with the great Will Ferrell? Here’s your chance to.

We usually see crowdfunding used to help fund indie movies, comics, games, and so on, but it can also be used to do great things for charity. A new campaign has been started on Indiegogo called Will Ferrell’s SuperMegaBlastMax Gamer Challenge. The basic idea: raise a bunch of money for kids who have beaten or are battling cancer and get some cool stuff, with one person winning the once-in-a-lifetime chance to play video games with Ferrell and have it broadcasted on Twitch.

Continue reading for all the details and to watch a video of Ferrell announcing the contest.

The only way this contest happens is if the goal is met, as is the case with any crowdfunding campaign. The goal here is $375,000 in the next 32 days, with almost $25,000 already donated.

Here’s the rundown of the grand prize:

The most spectacular grand prize ever….

After the campaign ends and if the threshold is met, one lucky winner will be selected at random from all entries into the sweepstakes. Trust me, you want to win this!!

  • An all expenses paid trip for 2 to San Francisco – includes roundtrip airfare + 2 nights in a hotel (see fine print at bottom for details)
  • VIP visit to Twitch’s offices in downtown San Francisco (the super secret filming location for the event)
  • Play video games with me… broadcasted on Twitch
  • Hang out with other special guests including top pro gamers & charity sponsors
  • All kinds of cool swag including event t-shirts, my all new sunblock for gamers, and much more.
  • Some photographs with me (to prove it really happened)
  • Basically, the lucky winner should expect on a bunch of jealous friends, new followers & tons of haters all over the interweb wishing they were you….oooh yeahhh!!!

As for the smaller rewards to claim, just a $10 donation enters you into the contest, and also scores you a $5 Amazon credit toward digital video games—every tier after also includes this. $25 gets you a month of Twitch Turbo and two entries into the contest. $50 gets you a tube of Will Ferrell’s SuperMegaUVBlastMax Gamer’s Sunscreen and two entries. $75 gets you a t-shirt, a tube of sunscreen, and three entries into the contest. $150 gets you a hoodie, t-shirt, sunscreen, and three entries. $500 gets you a special autographed SuperMegaBlastMax cowbell signed by Ferrell (only 20 of these are available and they’re almost gone as of the writing of this), plus everything above and five entries into the contest. $1,500 gets you a personal 15-30 second message from Ferrell himself plus the hoodie, t-shirt, sunscreen, and five entries. And finally, $5,000 funds a cancer survivor’s college scholarship on your behalf plus the hoodie, t-shirt, sunscreen, and five entries.

There was also a $250 tier for an autographed Xbox 360 controller but that was restricted to only 20 and went quickly.

If interested, you can head to the Indiegogo campaign page to see and learn more about all of the rewards, and make a donation of course!
