‘Breath Of Bones’ Movie Lands ‘Shrek,’ ‘Chronicles Of Narnia’ Director Andrew Adamson
  |  @   |

A director has been found for Breath of Bones, an adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics mini-series Breath of Bones: A Tale of the Golem by 30 Days of Night creator Steve Niles, Matt Santoro, and Dave Wachter.

Andrew Adamson, who’s best known for directing Shrek, Shrek 2 (which scored him an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, is set to direct the adaptation.

Set during World War II, Breath of Bones follows a Jewish village that attracts the attention of the Nazis when a plane crashes there, forcing the villagers to defend themselves and one rabbi and his grandson to create a golem to help protect them.

Of the story, Niles said:

“Telling a story can be tough. It’s the one monster rooted in religion and mysticism, so I wanted to be respectful. I decided to tell it as a World War II fable. It’s a story of a grandfather teaching his grandson how to make a monster to defend his village against a Nazi invasion.”

Adamson also spoke of the story, saying:

“From the moment I saw the cover art, I knew this had the makings of a new classic.”

Producing Breath of Bones is Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse, along with Adamson and his producing partners at Strange Weather Aron Warner, and also Jeff Fierson of Strange Weather executive producing.

If interested in the story and too impatient to wait for the movie to be made, you can check out the comic on Kindle or hardcover now.
