NYCC 2014: ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Panel; ‘Agent Carter’ Footage Revealed
  |

This year’s New York Comic-Con brought a highly anticipated panel for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In addition to a surprise appearance from a cast member, there was also a special screening. Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb began the panel by reminding the audience of how far Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has come.

“As many of you remember, we were in a much smaller hall when we first announced that we would have our first live-action television series,” he said.

Then, much to the audience’s shock, Loeb went on to say, “Anybody can be Hydra,” as he opened his jacket to reveal a HYDRA logo on a t-shirt underneath.

When Clark Gregg ran out from backstage to confront Loeb on his shady allegiance, the crowd went wild, standing to their feet and cheering, “Coulson! Coulson! Coulson!”

Gregg’s visit to NYCC may have been a last-minute decision. After hearing that Loeb would be attending the convention, Gregg asked if he could go, but Loeb initially said no. “And I said, “˜Please, please! Because I came here two years ago to watch a tribute video that I thought was basically going to be Coulson’s funeral,'” he said. “But then Joss [Whedon] said, “˜You may not be so dead.'”

The S.H.I.E.L.D. star also showed his love for the Empire State. “I lived here longer than I lived anywhere else,” he said. “I love New York. I love this con. I think it’s the greatest con. This is where Coulson was resurrected.”

Beyond his excitement for being at NYCC, Gregg also played a part in introducing a screening of the upcoming episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which will air this Tuesday, October 14th.

The episode revealed multiple plot twists and unexpected action sequences, proving itself as one not to miss. Before the panel was dismissed, Gregg added, “I just have to say thank you. That was really fun to watch that together with you.”

And as if the episode was not excitement enough, Gregg pulled a DVD out of his jacket and handed it to Loeb. On the disc was the world premiere of a scene from Marvel’s new television show, Agent Carter, which will begin in January 2015. Loeb explained that the show only started filming a week ago and that the footage was filmed Monday, October 6th.

The scene featured Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, and James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis. Peggy Carter has a cheeky interaction with Howard Stark, who is leaving by boat to find a potentially dangerous formula which could have fallen into the wrong hands. Jarvis the butler is also introduced, who is balancing a life as a spy and traditional family man. We then see a fight sequence with Peggy kicking some serious butt.

After the crowd’s rousing cheers of approval dissipated, Clark Gregg gave it a clear “two thumbs up.”
