‘Terminator: Genisys’ Likely PG-13; Not A Sequel/Remake; Endoskeletons Will Be Mo-Cap
  |  @   |

Chances are you already expected it but a new interview with Jai Courtney, star of the next installment in the Terminator franchise, titled Terminator: Genisys, indicates that the movie will in all likelihood be rated PG-13.

The chat with Courtney also reveals some other information, like the movie isn’t technically a sequel or a remake, the endoskeletons are created using motion capture technology, and that the planned two sequels might be shot back-to-back in 2016.

You can read some of Courtney’s quotes below.

The actor talked with The Arnold Fans. When asked, based on his experience during filming, whether or not he thought the movie would ultimately be rated R or PG-13, Courtney said:

“I would love to see it be rated R, but I don’t think it will. I think in this day & age, it’s much more likely to be PG-13. There were no f-bombs. But there’ll be a healthy amount of movie violence.”

Because no one would be dropping f-bombs if an unstoppable force of machines sent from the future to wipe us off the face of the planet attacked. That’s a time for rainbows and cuddling, not naughty words!

Courtney also spoke to HuffPost Live, where he describes the movie as not being a sequel or remake:

“What I can say is that we start in a place we’re familiar with from the early films and then, you know, circumstances change. It somewhat shifts the course of events from that point. It’s not necessarily a sequel or a reboot. I don’t even know how you brand it correctly. We’re not remaking one of the early “˜Terminator’ movies. And it doesn’t necessarily carry on from the point where we left off.”

Many have wondered how these new movies would approach things considering everything that’s happened in previous installments, so it makes sense that they have decided to go back to a point we’re familiar with and then branch off into their own storyline. When time travel is involved, most things are possible.

The actor also briefly mentioned the fact that endoskeletons would be mo-cap when asked about his favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger story:

“I don’t know about my BEST Arnold story but the endoskeletons were funny, because they were really just guys in mo-cap suits running around.”

Courtney was also asked about when they start filming the two sequels and if Arnold will be around for those (which he obviously can’t talk about):

“Hard to imagine a Terminator film without Arnold. I guess we start filming – I think the plan is do the next 2 back to back in 2016.”

Terminator: Genisys is currently scheduled for a July 1, 2015 release.

  1. It would of been awesome if they digitized Arnold and mocap’d him to create a total CGI T-800. Old Arnold becomes young massive Arnold again. That would blow people away.
