IDW Publishing held a panel on Saturday afternoon at 2014’s New York Comic-Con spotlighting their comic book series Killogy and its upcoming animated TV series adaptation.
Along with IDW head Chris Ryall, the panel featured Killogy creator Alan Robert, who’s the bassist and songwriter of New York-based metal band Life Of Agony, along with another New York legend — drummer Marky Ramone.
The animated series, which is being developed by Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris), will — like the comic — feature the likeness of Marky Ramone, Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, The Sopranos), and Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter), all of whom will be voicing their respective characters.
Robert revealed that Rocky Curby, who’s worked on Amazing Spider-Man, Thor, and other major properties, will be joining the production team as an animator. The audience was then shown some of Curby’s original work, an animated short called Happy Meal Horror.
When pitching the TV series, which will consist of 30-minute episodes, Robert said he had to map out up to six seasons of the show and do a lot of research.
Killogy is a zombie apocalypse story where Frank Vincent is mafia hitman Sally Sno-Cones, Marky Ramone is degenerate gambler with really bad luck Cole “Shaggy” Edwards; and Brea Grant is Summer Rhoades, who’s stuck with a cursed ring that possesses her soul with dark voodoo. The trio are trapped in a prison cell and must use each of their unique skills to survive the hordes of bloodthirsty zombies waiting to get at them.
You can check out Geeks Of Doom’s review of the original Killogy anthology and be sure to pick up the recently released Killogy Halloween Special One Shot (also available for the Kindle), which introduces new celebrity character Doyle, of The Misfits (which was one of our pick’s last week on The GoD List).
Ramone, who recently signed on for another year for his Sirius XM radio show Punk Rock Blitzkrieg (Ch 41 on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 8pm), is getting ready to release his autobiography, Punk Rock Blitzkrieg: My Life as a Ramone on January 13, 2015, and will doing some book signings in support. He’ll also be playing some shows with his band, Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg, one of which will be at New York’s Gramercy Theater on January 17, 2015, where Andrew WK will be the lead vocalist for a 35-Ramones’ song set. (Ramone will also be signing his book there.)
