Kickstarter Spotlight: Final Empire
  |  @   |

I’m almost sad that I have to announce the end of Blake Northcott‘s “Arena Mode Saga,” it has been that amazing. But as they say, the show must go on. And with that knowledge I’m pleased to be able to offer you the chance to help see the final book in the trilogy come to life through the ever successful Kickstarter site.

Titled Final Empire, this will see this hugely popular series to its finish. If you aren’t familiar with the novels, then this is your chance to get them along with some extra goodies.

Read on to find out more and to check out the Kickstarter video!

Combining a novel with comic book art has worked out well for Blake. She has raised an amazing amount of money through the previous Kickstarters and her fantastic fundraising was mirrored by the success the books had on Amazon’s site. Her first novel was the #1 selling novel on Amazon Kindle UK during February and March of 2014 in both the Science Fiction and Superhero graphic novel categories. She even outsold titles like Doctor Who and The Walking Dead! How kick-ass is that?

With heavy hitters like Mark Millar and Mark Waid endorsing her work, you know it’s definitely a cut above the rest. She’s also lined up another group of awesome artists to illustrate her latest book.

Here’s part of her press release that details that:

The 300+ page novel will be available on Kickstarter beginning October 18th, and will nclude illustrations throughout by a number of notable artists:

Natasha Allegri (Adventure Time, Fionna and Cake)
John Broglia (God Complex, Unmasked)
Joe Corroney (Star Wars, Star Trek)
Derek Laufman (Batman Black & White, Marvel vs. Capcom)
Mark McKenna (Star Wars: Old Republic, Justice League)
Steve McNiven (Death of Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy)
David Nakayama (Deadpool cover artist)
Roc Upchurch (Rat Queens)

As well as illustrations from Thor Mangila of Iron Age Comics, and YouTube personality Comic Book Girl 19.

“I know it sounds cliché, but the Arena Mode series has truly changed my life,” says Northcott. “Without these books, I don’t know where I’d be today. I owe everything to the amazing artists who have contributed to the series, and the fans who believed in this crazy idea.”

So, as you can see, it’s loaded with talent on top of the stellar work that Blake does herself. When I was made aware of the superhero role-playing game, Metahumans & Manticores, I got especially excited. It will be free to anyone who buys the book during the Kickstarter. This tabletop RPG is tailor-made for comic fans and even features an homage to several well know comic characters. You know you’ll want to check that out, folks

As far as other rewards, there are many. For a single dollar you can have your name listed in the contribution section of the book. Most of these fundraisers hold that reward for the mid-level prizes, but Blake lets everyone get a piece of that action! Ten dollars nets you the ebook on your favorite format. Five more and you get all three in digital form, that’s a great deal for first time readers. Donate 22 bucks and get everything I’ve mentioned, plus an extra story and the two first books on audio, too. A few more dollars and you can upgrade to a hard copy; there are several variety packs that will appeal to a wide assortment of folks. It’s just a matter of picking the one that’s right for you. There are many opportunities to get original artwork or even to hang out with Blake. Definitely read the last of rewards yourself, there are far too many for me to list here.

I encourage you to take a look at the official Kickstarter page. Not only have I enjoyed the books, I’ve supported the fundraising. It’s a great way to be part of the process and at the same time receive some wondrous extras that you might otherwise never get.

So take the time to peruse the Final Empire Kickstarter; you’ll be glad you did. This Kickstarter ends on November 16, 2014 but it’s always better to check it out at the beginning while the limited rewards are still available!
