Author J.K. Rowling of Harry Potter fame has been promising something big was coming and fans of the series have been in a frenzy trying to figure it out. Well, Halloween is upon us and it’s been announced that Rowling is going to release a new story featuring one of the most hated (and arguably most evil characters) in all of the Potter storyline, Dolores Umbridge.

It has been a mixed response to the revelation that fans were going to be given more background into the overzealous Defense of the Dark Arts teacher from Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Fans can expect about 1,700 words or so of insight into the character through Rowling’s website Pottermore.

In a special Halloween treat for Harry Potter fans, J.K. Rowling’s website pottermore.com will post new original writing on October 31 about the witch and former Hogwarts professor Dolores Umbridge. The character was first introduced to readers in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic. Umbridge is not only one of the most malicious “Potter” characters, she is the only person other than Lord Voldemort to leave a permanent physical scar on Harry. The new exclusive J.K. Rowling content provides a rich, 1,700-word back story about Umbridge’s life filled with many new details, as well as Rowling’s revealing first-person thoughts and reflections about the character.

Honestly, I myself am curious just how she became so twisted and evil so that I can make sure I never go down that path. Ever.
