A clever YouTube user going by the handle ChiefBrodyRules (yes, he does) has taken this year’s Marvel-ous superhero blockbuster Captain America: The Winter Soldier and reconfigured it into an awesome fan trailer done in the style of a video preview for a 1980’s Cannon Films action flick.
You can watch the trailer in all its fuzzy glory here below.
As you can see, a great and timely film about a heroic symbol of the American way has become a violent revenge thriller set in the kind of dystopian future all too commonplace in 80’s action and sci-fi cinema. Not only does this trailer contain clips from Cap’s first three adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and The Avengers – but we also get clips from a multitude of some of the most badass action movies of the past thirty years (and a few not-so-badass ones), with some great 80’s-style music to back them up.
Part of the fun of watching this trailer is identifying those movies, one of the best involving a classic Chris Evans performance from his pre-Marvel days. Enjoy!
I love that trailer. And the music. Brings me back to the days when a weekend went renting bad movies By companys like Cannon Films, Göran and Globus, Troma and a lot of them. It’s just hillarious. And the Voice over made me laugh out loud. Sometimes I miss these trailers and movies.
