‘Evil Dead’ To Live On At Starz With Bruce Campbell
  |  @   |

Bruce Campbell is set to return to the world of The Evil Dead!

Starz has greenlit the production of a new original series coming in 2015 titled Ash Vs. Evil Dead, 10 half-hour episodes which have Campbell reprising his role as Ash from the Evil Dead horror film franchise. Also back on board are the original filmmakers, director Sam Raimi (who will executive producer) and producer Rob Tapert.

Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

The original 1981 low-budget horror film saw a group of young friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unwittingly unleash demons hellbent on human possession. The film spawned two sequels — 1987’s Evil Dead II and 1992’s Army of Darkness –, a musical, and one reboot, 2013’s Evil Dead from director Fede Alvarez. But fans have along awaited Bruce Campbell’s return to the franchise!!!

Here’s what Campbell had to say about project: “I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide – it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”

With Campbell, the Raimis, and Tapert involved on a network like Starz, which already has proven their worth with other great original programming (Da Vinci’s Demons, Spartacus, The White Queen, Black Sails), Ash Vs. Evil Dead is definitely going to be a must-watch series.

  1. Can’t wait! Given how TV has changed it’s attitude toward monster gore (The Walking Dead), Ash won’t be constrained by the medium.

  2. Especially since STARZ is a premium cable network.
