If the couple of minutes of new No Man’s Skygameplay shown at the recent Game Awards wasn’t enough for you, four more minutes of the game were presented over the weekend at Sony’s PlayStation Experience event.
The new gameplay demo really tries to give you an idea of just how astonishingly massive the folks over at Hello Games are aiming. It starts in one area, exploring a bit, before moving on to another area…far, far, far, far away. It also gives an idea of what it looks like to discover a new area. For those unfamiliar with the game, if you find a new galaxy, planet, lifeform, and so on in your travels, you’re locked in as the discoverer and anyone else who visits later will see you were the one who found it.
The video, which you can watch below, certainly will not help those who have been worried that the game cannot be what we’ve been told it will be feel any better, but it sure helps build on that excitement we’ve had since it was first unveiled a year ago. And if you are one of those who are worried, there’s also a special bonus video just for you below.
The bonus video features Hello Games founder Sean Murray, who’s been the face of the game since its announcement, sitting down with Game Informer and not only continuing to try to explain how it all works (not an easy task) but actually showing how it works with a TV and PS4.
So if you’ve been thinking some of the videos we’ve seen in the past were made just to hype No Man’s Sky, this video shows the game actually being played and functioning as we’ve been told it functions. Right there for your eyes to see. Does it 100% prove the final product will work? No, of course not. But it will make you feel more confident and is a fascinating peek behind the curtain of what they’re trying to accomplish.
It’s also pointed out that this was recorded a while back using an older version of the game, as well as a debug camera. This isn’t exactly what the final game will look like to players, just a real live example of what they’ve created to show how this procedurally generated giant works.
