Location Revealed For ‘The Walking Dead’ Spinoff Series
  |  @   |

AMC gave the greenlight for their untitled Walking Dead spinoff back in September and since then we’ve learned that Cliff Curtis (Trauma) will be the lead in the series, currently codenamed Cobalt.

We also know that the show will feature an all-new set of characters that were not introduced on the original television show or in Robert Kirkman‘s comic books and that it won’t take place in Georgia as the current show does. But then where will the spinoff be set?

Of all places, Los Angeles, according to TV Line, who learned of the location exclusively, although AMC has yet to officially confirm the news.

That’s right – Colbalt will feature Hollywood Walkers (of Fame?)!!! I wonder if this means we’ll see some celebrity zombies ala Bill Murray in Zombieland? If the tone will be as serious as The Walking Dead is, then I doubt it.

While the new show will reportedly be set in LA, there’s no word yet on whether it will actually be shot there or in another location doubling for the city. The Walking Dead is set in Georgia and does its filming there as well.

As previously reported, male lead Cliff Curtis will play a divorced teacher who tries hard to be good to everyone in his life, while Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) will play the children of the not-yet-cast female lead. Kirkman and showrunner Dave Erickson are writing the series, which might actually be more of a prequel dealign with the days leading up to the zombie apocalypse, with Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert on as executive producers.
