‘The Colbert Report’: Stephen Colbert’s Celebrity Singalong Send-Off (Video)
  |  @   |

Last night, Stephen Colbert signed off in the final episode of The Colbert Report, his long-running political satire talk show on Comedy Central, and was surrounded by celebrity ensemble to give him a proper send-off.

As the series finale drew to a close, Colbert began to sing the 1939 British song “We’ll Meet Again,” and as he walked across the studio, his friend and fellow Comedy Central host Jon Stewart appeared. The two joined hands, then walked over to Randy Newman playing the tune on the piano. Once the first verse was over, the cameras panned across the studio to show celebrities and former guest singing along. Amongst the crowd were Bryan Cranston, Patrick Stewart, George Lucas, Willie Nelson, James Franco, Barry Manilow, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Peter Frampton, Cindi Lauper, New York Mayor Bill DiBlasio, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, and even Big Bird and Cookie Monster!

Watch the heartwarming send-off here below.

After 11 seasons, Colbert has certainly made an impact not only in entertainment, but in world news, too. For many viewers, Colbert’s show was where they actually got the news of the day. His interviews were unique, eye-opening, and humorous, and his love of geek properties like Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars made him relatable to several generations. I can say without hesitation that The Colbert Report was one of the greatest television shows ever.

While Colbert will be seen each week night next year on CBS once he takes over the hosting duties on The Late Show from the retiring David Letterman, the “Stephen Colbert” ring-wing political pundit character that’s being put to rest with The Colbert Report will be forever missed.

Watch the video til the end, where Colbert leaves with his prized possession, Captain America’s shield, and receives one last celebrity send-off before he says good-bye to the viewers.

Thanks for making a positive difference in this world, Stephen Colbert. We love you!
