Sony Reaches Tentative Deal To Stream ‘The Interview’ On YouTube
  |  @   |

When it was revealed yesterday that smaller theaters petitioning Sony to allow them to screen canceled comedy The Interview had actually worked and select theaters would be running the movie on its planned Christmas Day release after all, it also was reported that this could mean Sony could be close to also releasing it via VOD or streaming service for everyone not able to make it to one of the theaters showing the movie.

Now comes word that supports these reports. According to sources, Sony has reached a tentative deal with Google to make The Interview available via YouTube starting tomorrow when the movie releases.

If things work out anyone who’s been anxious to see what all of the fuss is about would be able to pay a rental fee to watch the movie on YouTube, though the sources do stress that the deal could still fall through and not happen at this point.

This would also likely not be an exclusive deal for YouTube, as Sony is talking to multiple potential partners and is understandably hoping to make it as widely available as they possibly can.

Stay tuned, as the report from CNN says Sony has hopes of officially announcing a streaming deal at some point today.
