New Year’s Eve is tomorrow, so if you want to ring in the New Year with your very little ones, but don’t want them to stay up til the stroke of midnight, Netflix has a solution for you.
Netflix has created an on-demand New Year’s Eve Countdown program on their streaming service that can be watched beforehand, because from what I understand there are people who on New Year’s Eve fool their small children into thinking it’s midnight earlier than when it is, so that they’ll go to sleep on time.
The Netflix countdown is a 3-minute short featuring King Julien, the star of their new series All Hail King Julien, a spin-off of DreamWorks Animations’ Madagascar film. The Countdown is available right now in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, UK, Ireland, the Nordics, the Netherlands, and France.
According to Netflix, a recent survey revealed that 34% of parents admitted to starting their New Year’s celebrations early in an effort to fool their children into thinking it was midnight, so that the kids would go to bed at their normal bedtime.
That’s when King Julien decided to sponsor his own early celebration:
I was totally bummed when I heard that some of my favorite little party people aren’t allowed to stay up until midnight for the biggest party of the year,” said King Julien, King of the Lemurs. But then I realized I’m king, I make the rules! So move over, Ryan Seacrest, I’ve got my very own on-demand countdown party on Netflix. That means the New Year’s Eve party is always on – just how it should be! What better way to ring in Julien-uary?
So, for those of you with little ones who want to start the party early, visit the All Hail King Julien Netflix page and go to the “Trailers and More” section to select the Countdown. Also, the first five episodes of All Hail King Julien are available now for viewing on Netflix as well.
