The Batman actor, who has been receiving high praise for his recent role in Birdman as a Hollywood has-been famous for an old superhero role, is reportedly “finalizing a deal” to join Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers) and J.K. Simmons (Juno) in the King Kong feature directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

The film will “fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island,” in a story that “honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline,” according to Legendary Pictures.
