Comedic Actor Taylor Negron Dies
  |

Taylor Negron, a comedic everyman most known for small but iconic roles in 1980’s movies, died Saturday, January 10, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. He was 57.

News of his passing was made public in a short video posted online by his cousin, Chuck Negron, the founding vocalist of Three Dog Night. The comedic actor had reportedly long been battling cancer and was surrounded by family when he passed. No other details regarding his death have been released.

A long-time working actor, comedian, painter, and author, the easily recognizable Negron was probably most remembered for his everyman roles in films in the 1980’s: the pizza delivery guy who brings Sean Pean his pizza in class in Fast Times At Ridgemont High and the mailman who says “What’s a little boy like you doing with big boy smut like this?” in Better Off Dead, as well as parts in Young Doctors In Love, One Crazy Summer, and How I Got Into College.

The Glendale, CA-born actor was a perennially working actor in a business where longevity is not the norm, racking up dozens of TV and movie credits from the end of the 1970s until the present day. This reflected his deep desire to hone both his comedy (he had a private comedy seminar with Lucille Ball) and his acting (he studied with Lee Strasberg.) He authored two collections of comedy essays, Dirty Laundry (Phoenix Books) and Love West Hollywood: Reflections of Los Angeles (Alyson Books), and three works for the stage, The Unbearable Lightness of Being Taylor Negron – A Fusion of Story and Song, Gangster Planet, and Downward Facing Bitch. Painting was also a passion; he was on the board of the L.A. County Museum of Art and had a one man show of his work in May 2014.

He is remembered and beloved by many in the public and the entertainment industry. He will be missed.

RIP Taylor Negron
August 1, 1957 – January 10, 2015.
