Heroes Reborn

Got your fill of TV revivals yet? Save some room, there’s still plenty on the way. Fox is talking about potentially reviving multiple titles of theirs, and now another high-profile revival has found one of its stars.

Back in 2006 when it first premiered, NBC’s Heroes was one of the hottest shows on television. After its stellar first season, however, the show had no idea where to go, which resulted in a nasty tailspin, and ultimately a crash cancellation in 2010 after season four.

In 2015, NBC will air a 13-episode miniseries continuation of Heroes titled Heroes Reborn, and one of the revival’s stars will be Zachary Levi.

Levi has worked for NBC before, playing the title character on their action-comedy Chuck. He’s also got some superhero experience under his belt now as well, having played Fandral in Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World.

Levi had this to say about joining the cast:

“There are a few franchises I’ve always wanted to be a part of, and Heroes is one of them. Chuck gave me the opportunity to wield some fun powers, but an entire world with superpowers is a world I’ve always wanted to explore.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with Tim [Kring], and the awesome team around him, in bringing this to life. Moreover, to be working with NBC again is such a reward in itself, as my bonds and relationships there are deep.”

Jack Coleman, who played Noah Bennett, or HRG, on the original Heroes, is the only other actor confirmed for Reborn so far, but more announcements are expected in the coming weeks and other original characters will likely be showing up from time to time during that 13-episode run.

The saga behind the 2006 breakout series “Heroes” will continue as creator Tim Kring returns to the fold and develops new layers to his original superhero concept. This highly anticipated 13-episode miniseries will reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities. This series will be preceded by a new digital series that will introduce audiences to the new characters and storylines that will take the “Heroes” phenomenon to new places.
