‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Brings ‘Elemental Evil’ Back!

That’s right, you read that correctly. One of my favorite Dungeons & Dragons adventure modules of all time is back in action. If you have never had the joy (and horror) of playing The Temple of Elemental Evil then I pity you; it was an awesome adventure that I spent many an afternoon and evening exploring.

This newest incarnation titled Elemental Evil is sure to impress just as much as its ancestor did thirty years ago. Dear lord, has it really been thirty years? Geez, I’m old! I’m sure as we have all come to expect from Wizards of the Coast, it’s going to be an epic event in 2015. Read on for more details!

Starting in March, we are going to have a variety of ways to enjoy this new storyline. For those who play the free-to-play MMORPG, Neverwinter: Elemental Evil will be a new downloadable module from Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment. Not only does it introduce a new player class, The Paladin, but it also raises the level cap to 70! Additionally, recent news from Cryptic Studios says we can expect Neverwinter on the Xbox early this year.

Nearer and dearer to my heart, however, is the tabletop role-playing version. Arriving April 7, 2015 is Princes of the Apocalypse, an adventure created for characters from levels one to fifteen. Containing all new elemental spells and a playable race called the Genasi. Mid-March also brings a free download that includes more new races and even more content for players. Don’t you just love it when they give away from upgrades and source material? This all takes place just in time for start of the Elemental Evil season of the D&D Adventurers League.

Other additional products brought to you by WizKids Games include The Temple of Elemental Evil board game releasing on April 30, 2015 and even forty-four different painted miniatures. Extras for the tabletop game include Gale Force Nine’s new Dungeon Master’s screen (with Elemental Evil art) and unpainted resin miniatures, both of which are slated for March releases.

I’m feeling more than a little nostalgic right now, mainly because my “good old days” of gaming are behind me for the most part. But for you folks, maybe it’s your time to shine! The Temple Of Elemental Evil was right up there with Queen Of The Demonweb Pits and Ravenloft way back in my day. Experience this new take on a legendary adventure, I am quite sure you’ll love it! Hell, much of this new stuff is even free! Who can say no to free? No one, that’s who! So make sure you check it out!

  1. I was stoked…until you mentioned that it’s on Neverwinter. Neverwinter has strayed from being a true Dungeons and Dragons game than any other before it. It put an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I’ll pass on this one even though I too enjoyed the original Temple of Elemental Evil.

  2. Well, DDO will apparently also have a module for ToEE. No firm date yet – it was announced in the developers letter earlier in the year.
