Director Bryan Singer has announced a trio of young stars for the next movie in the X-Men series, titled X-Men: Apocalypse.
Singer has announced that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark on GoT) has joined the cast as a young Jean Grey (played by Famke Janssen in previous movies). Also cast is Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life, Mud), who will play Cyclops (previously played by James Marsden), and Alexandra Shipp (Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, House of Anubis), who will play Storm (previously played by Halle Berry).
Back in November it was revealed that Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning, and Hailee Steinfeld were on the short list for Jean Grey, and Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe, and Timothee Chalamet were on the short list for Cyclops. So either all of those choices didn’t work out, or Turner and Sheridan stepped up and showed Singer and company something special.

We recently heard from Patrick Stewart that he and Ian McKellen wouldn’t be reprising their roles as Professor X and Magneto in X-Men: Apocalypse, and that the movie would be focusing on the younger days of these characters.
The movie is set to close out the First Class trilogy, with Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, and the rest of the cast set to return. Oscar Isaac is another one of the newcomers to the series, set to play the villain Apocalypse in the movie.
