We know for a fact that there’s a Star Warsstandalone film coming in 2016 from Godzilla director Gareth Edwards and that screenwriter Gary Whitta submitted a first draft of the script, but recently left the project.
Pretty much everything else we know about the film has been from unconfirmed rumors. There’s Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul’s supposed interested in officially joining the Star Wars universe; the recent testing of actresses for the female lead; and then a ton of speculation on what the hell this movie is going to be about.
/Film had a scoop that the standalone film would center on a group of bounty hunters hired to steal the plans for the first Death Star. Making Star Wars has some new details from the production at UK’s Pinewood Studios, including that “bounty hunters are important to the film.” (They also note that there will be “a lot of work on-location in Mexico” and that the codename for this first Star Wars spinoff is “Los Alamos.”)
There’s also been rumors that this would be either a Boba Fett film or a Han Solo film – or that there would be two films, each featuring one of the characters. Now, Latino-Review has a scoop that BOTH characters will be featured in Edwards’ movie and that it’s just going to be one movie that’s more “spinoff” than “standalone.”
Shooting begins on the movie, which I really wish had a damn name already, in the Spring, with a scheduled theatrical release for December 16, 2016.

What a clueless and grammatically challenged post. Did the author spill a Coke on their keyboard in the middle of accidentally writing this story?
