Last week on Gotham 1.13 “Welcome Back, Jim Gordon” (Spoilers!!), Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) takes a big bite of corruption by taking down Arnold Flass (Dash Mihok) and Delaware (SOA Alum Nico Nicotera). Jim gets a taste of how easy it is to become a corrupt cop, when Delaware begs him to leave his family out of it, after Penguin’s (Robin Lord Taylor) goon nearly drowns his wife. Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) escapes Falcone’s (John Doman) torture with Butch’s (Drew Powell) sacrifice, then gets out of Dodge, but not before showing her softer side, in her affection for Bullock (Donal Logue) and worry for Butch.
Gotham 1.14 “The Fearsome Dr. Crane” review: After an illuminating call from Fish, Maroni takes Penguin away to a cabin. He is delighted and is delightful as he wavers between kind protector and evil mafia bigwig. David Zayas made a smooth transition from good cop on Dexter to this underworld underlord. I get nervous that his consistent “guest star” status means his character is not long for this world, but here’s hoping. That part continues the season storyline, but the comic-y case of the day is a killer who uses his victim’s phobias as the murder weapon. It’s sorta sick, and there’s a pig involved. Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) keeps getting himself into trouble, but it’s always to find the answer to the riddle. And he’s kind of adorable. Is it bad that I really want Jim to end up with Dr. Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), even though the lore has him ending up with Barbara (Erin Richards)? Their chemistry is just better.
There is a wtf moment in the last 30 seconds of this episode.
