Felicity Jones, the actress who was just recently nominated for an Oscar for her work in The Theory of Everything, has entered into negotiations to star in the first Star Wars standalone movie.
Who the actress might play is currently not being shared yet, as no one knows what this first non-numbered Star Wars entry will be about. There have been rumors the movie could be about a group of bounty hunters trying to steal the blueprints for the Death Star, but nothing is confirmed.
What is known is that Jones beat out other actresses being looked at by Lucasfilm and Disney such as Rooney Mara and Tatiana Maslany.
For the lead male roles Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul is said to be a possibility, with Edgar Ramirez being looked at as well.
Other movies Jones has starred in include The Tempest, Like Crazy, Hysteria, Breathe In, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the upcoming True Story.
The first Star Wars standalone is set to be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Monsters), with Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About A Boy) recently taking over as screenwriter for Gary Whitta, who exited early last month to work on the Mark Millar adaptation Starlight.
The movie is scheduled to be released on December 16, 2016.
