What you missed on Gotham 1.14 “The Fearsome Dr. Crane”: Spoilers and wait! Why did you miss it? It sets up this week’s episode!

Besides Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) outing Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) to Maroni (David Zayas); Penguin almost turning into a sedan sandwich; and Bruce (David Mazouz) basically telling Jim (Ben McKenzie) that he sucks, Jim and Harvey (Donal Logue) failed to catch Dr. Crane. Dr. Crane’s super-fun murder spree involves scaring the shit out of his victims as the method of murder, before stealing their adrenal glands. Well…at least Harvey saved the girl.

Gotham 1.15 “The Scarecrow” review: Scare tactics continue as more gland-less victims pop up. Dr. Crane, Professor of Biology, is out to conquer his fear and that of his son’s. Fish wakes up in a dungeon of sorts after that ending last week when she growled at that stranger (?). It’s a large and cavernous dungeon filled with dozens of dregs of society. Strange meetings…Falcone/Maroni, Penguin/Nygma – equals very interesting set-ups. Bruce goes on his annual hike-this time without his dad. Can I mention how striking the decaying sets look in this episode? These episodes are always dark and dreary, but the decayed house where Dr. Crane lives….when that shot come into view, I was moved to mention it. And wherever Fish is, looks like it belongs in “Fight Club.” It’s good that Bruce is finally showing emotion, none shown since the first episode. Although this episode is based on fear, this one was a little tamer than previous ones.
