SPOILERS for The Walking Dead Episode 509 “What Happened and What’s Going On.”
Last night saw return of AMC’s The Walking Dead with Episode 509 “What Happened and What’s Going On,” the mid-season premiere for Season 5. It’s been months since we as viewers got to see Rick and the gang after the horrible outcome of the hostage trade at the hospital. Now, while the new episode starts out slow, it picks up once some of the members of the group make it to the town where Noah’s family lived and there’s a lot of reminiscing about those lost — the good and the bad — and the choices that have been made so far.
AMC has released the “most talked about scene” from the episode, which centers on the pivotal moment with Tyresse. The network has also released two behind-the-scenes videos — one is a “Making of” featurette that delves into how the hallucination scene was done; the other is a 3-plus-minute “Inside Look” at the episode which goes into detail on what happened with Tyreese and why and what it means to the rest of the group.
You can watch all the videos here below.
The Walking Dead, which stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Michael Cudlitz, and more, is back at AMC on Sunday nights at 9/8c, followed by the post-live show Talking Dead hosted by Chris Hardwick.
The Walking Dead Season 5.2 Synopsis:
After the tragic events of the mid-season finale — as well as losing the possibility of a cure in Washington, DC — Rick Grimes’ band of survivors find themselves on the road, surviving day to day and trying to hold on to their shredded humanity and dwindling hope.
Stripped of security and without a direction for the future, some of the group near their breaking point, some find themselves hardened and cold and some just try to grasp on to what little they have left.
Though they are still breathing, the line between Rick’s group and the dead is starting to blur.
Could there be anything at this point that brings them back to life?
