The Flash first gave us a hint with a “flash” of a dank and empty cage in the pilot, bars warped, Grodd sign hanging askew. In The Flash 1.12 “Crazy For You” episode, a light “flashes” over some graffiti on the walls of a tunnel, Grodd is written over and over. And the poor men in the tunnel only have time to utter, “Dear God,” before screaming and being dragged away.
Now, a new trailer adds another layer to the mythology, giving viewers a glimpse of the super-intelligent primate, a glimpse set to premiere in this Tuesday’s “Fallout” episode. Watch the new trailer here below.
This Gorilla Grodd will probably be different than the Grodd of the comics. In the comics, Gorilla Grodd and his gorilla friends became hyper-intelligent when an alien spaceship crashed into his jungle and the pilot worked his magic (The Flash v1 #106). All meta-humans and now presumably metaprimates have been victims of the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator malfunction that created The Flash, The Mist, Danton Black, Girder, Pied Piper, Blackout, Peek-a-Boo, Captain Cold, Heatwave, and Firestorm, to name a few.
The Flash episode “Fallout” airs Tuesday, February 17, 2015 on The CW.
ABOUT THE FLASH
After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion – and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.
