NY Toy Fair 2015: New Marvel Toy Releases (Photos)
  |  @   |

This past weekend was the 2015 New York International Toy Fair and the new Marvel toy lines from Hasbro were amongst the sights to be seen. It’s my pleasure to be able to give you a look at what’s coming so you can organize your finances accordingly. So please peruse the galleries here below, which contain information and release schedule for some of the items featured, including Ant-Man, The Avengers, Spider-Man, and more.

Ant Man

Now, more often than not, every new movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe sees a massive drop of merchandise in the form of toys, figures, and miscellaneous accessories to entertain kids of all ages. I found this year to be slightly different with the upcoming Ant-Man film. Unlike many previous films, this one focuses in on a character that isn’t as well known in the mainstream media. As such, I was curious as to what would see in this line. And while it did have all the heroes and villains I expected, it also has one kick ass addition: an Ant-Man Build-A-Figure Ultron Prime! A towering nine inches tall, this is possibly one of my favorite surprises of the year (I’m a big Ultron fan, no pun intended)! We should these six-inch figures release this summer in support of the movie being in theaters.

Avengers, Wave 2

The Avengers Legends Wave 2 collection was previously announced and look like a pretty solid set. With the Thanos Build-A-Figure rivaling the Hulk in stature, this group should see some excellent sales. My favorite of the bunch is the Iron Man figure with a changeable head to show off Tony’s face! These are coming this Spring, possibly even later this month.

Avengers, Wave 3

This is where I squeal with joy, folks! The Avengers Legends Wave 3 series has my boy Doctor Strange in it! I mean, yeah, the Build-A-Figure Hulkbuster is wicked awesome in this line but for me personally, I cannot wait to get my sweaty hands on the Sorcerer Supreme. It’s not the costume I would have chosen but it’s still really cool, nonetheless. The Thundra figure was a surprise for me, I must admit. I’m sure there’s a reason but I cannot fathom what it would be, honestly. And, unlike many others, I really dig the black and gold Iron Man armor. It’s a pleasant change from the norm.

Marvel Infinite

The smaller scale Marvel Infinite figures were also shown off this weekend. For me, these are much too small for my displays, but there are some goodies to be had and they make great gifts for people to actually play with. That’s right *gasp* some people actually play with their toys. But seriously, the Deadpool in blue and yellow is a good buy, even if he is being over-exposed everywhere like Wolverine once was. There are a couple of double packs that I hear are Toys R’ Us exclusives, too. Coming Spring 2015.

Marvel Super Hero Mashers

I’m not too familiar with the Marvel Super Hero Mashers. To be fair, since I don’t have little ones in the house I probably never gave this line a second glance. But I should have. These figures are meant to be disassembled and rebuilt in a variety of ways, mixed and matched if you would. Not at all properly proportionate, it’s all about adaptability for the wee ones to make their own heroes. I would probably buy the Carnage and Venom figures just to mix them up a bit. The release for these is staggered through Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Spider-Man Legends, Wave 1

Featuring a Build-A-Figure Hobgoblin, the Spider-Man Legends Wave 1 was first teased at SDCC 2014 and contains a great collection of the spider-folks. With two different Spider-Girls and two different Spider-Man figures you get a well-rounded grouping. With Anti-Venom and Daredevil thrown in, it becomes a great foundation on which to build, there are more waves coming you know. If I had to choose one that outshines the rest, the maroon/crimson costumed Ultimate Spider-Girl takes the prize. She just looks well sculpted and the flowing hair gives her some innate motion.

Spider-Man Legends, Wave 2

The Spider-Man Legends Wave 2 adds a lot more depth to this series. I like the fact that the Rhino Build-A-Figure is so massive, but Kraven is my favorite from this bunch. Mainly because I loathe the character, but love the details in this figure! On top of that, we have a Misty Knight figure (for the first time in mass production) and a really sleek looking White Tiger figure. Also notable here is the three in one figure that has interchangeable heads to create J. Jonah Jameson, Chameleon, and Hammerhead. These will be available this Spring!

Target 3-Pack

This exclusive Target 3 Pack contains a modern Hulk, a movie version of Ultron, and a nice all white Vision (West Coast Avengers variant). Not a lot was released when these were shown off, unfortunately. I’ll buy it just for the all white Vision, to be honest.

Titan Heroes

If oversized figures are your bag, then the Titan Heroes series is for you! This go around we see Hawkeye, Ant Man, Iron Man and Ultron all 12 inches tall. These are coming this Spring, possibly this April! I have also discovered that there are a variety of versions of these, some with extra equipment, some even with Tech that allows the to interact to some extent. So keep your eyes open, you might get more choices than thought you would!

Toys R’ Us 3 Pack

Finally! Some Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. merch! In this Toys R’ Us 3 Pack, we get Agent Coulson, Maria Hill and even Nick Fury himself! Dropping into stores in April, this group contains the top agents from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Expect to have to hunt for these, though. In my experience you have to be there waiting for them to literally open the boxes if you intend to get a set.

Wal-Mart Hulkbuster Gauntlets

Okay, let’s be serious here. I know these Hulkbuster Gauntlets are made for kids to role play, but I think we’ll see many adults trying these on for size. Who wouldn’t, right? You might even see a pic or two of me doing it. I do own the big foam Hulk hands, these are the next logical purchase to compliment those big green fists. Available as a Wal-Mart exclusive, these will be at your neighborhood Wal-Mart this Spring!

There you go, more stuff to empty your wallets. Some will be readily available, some will be extremely difficult to find. But all in all, there is certainly something there for any Marvel fan. Have a great day and start calling your local comic shop to see what they plan on stocking for you! And try not to pester the big box chains too much about the exclusives, they probably won’t dig that too much.
