‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Plot Synopsis and Cast Revealed
  |  @   |

For the past four Pirates of the Caribbean films, Jack Sparrow has searched for immortality so that he could sail the seven seas freely for eternity. But through those four films, he discovered that the accursed coins couldn’t do it, nor could he find a way around being bound to searching for lost souls of sailors for infinite years. Not even finding the Fountain of Youth. Now the drunken swashbuckler looks like he will veer away from that search, and go hunting for some buried treasure.

In a new press release from Disney, the plot synopsis and cast have been revealed for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Hit the jump for the full cast, synopsis, and more.

First up, the cast. Johnny Depp, will of course, reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow. Also returning are Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, and Stephen Graham as Scrum. They will all be joined by franchise newcomers Javier Bardem, who plays the film’s villain Captain Salazar, Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner), Brenton Thwaites (The Giver), and Golshifteh Farahani (The Patience Stone).

Here’s the official synopsis:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea”¦including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Now the Trident could tie-in with Sparrow’s search for immortality, the synopsis doesn’t spill the whole story, just that he needs it in order to survive the mass pirate genocide.

Also confirmed are Kon-Tiki helmers Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning, who will be directing the film, using a script penned by Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). Jerry Bruckheimer will produce.

Filming has already begun in Queensland, Australia.

The official @Disney account on Twitter posted the following today:

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was originally scheduled for a July 7, 2017 release, but the press release makes no mention of a date, which may imply that Disney may be eyeing an earlier release now that production for the film has begun.
