Parks and Recreation cast on Late Night With Seth Meyers

The cast of NBC’s Parks and Recreation made an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday night soon after the show’s one-hour series finale aired. Stars Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Aziz Ansari, Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman, Retta, and Jim O’Heir, along with co-creator Michael Schur, talked about their thoughts on ending the show after 8 successful years on the air. Obviously, it was an emotional time for the cast, but main star Amy Poehler was rapid-fire funny throughout the interview, while Chris Pratt revealed how he thought the series should have ended.

Check out the video here below, which includes Pratt’s pitch for the series finale.

Not surprising, during this segment it was revealed that while Chris Pratt basically became a superstar over the course of the show, thanks to his role as Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, he never let it go to his head. Even with leading action hero roles like the one in Guardians and the upcoming Jurassic World, Pratt, whose Andy Dwyer started out on Parks and Rec as a secondary character who ran the shoe-shine stand, said back in January, “I would never f”””” leave this show.”

Noteworthy is that this February 24th episode of Late Night marked the one-year anniversary of Seth Meyers hosting the late-night talk show, and that on his very first episode, Amy Poehler was his guest. Meyers and Poehler spent years working together as cast members of Saturday Night Live, which included their time as Weekend Update co-anchors, where they tackled subjects like the birth control debate.

If you watched the one-hour series finale of Parks and Recreation, then hopefully you feel you’ve gotten a satisfying ending to one of NBC’s greatest sitcoms in recent years. The show has definitely left it mark on TV history, especially Poehler’s character Leslie Knope.

The final episode of Parks and Recreation was dedicated to Harris Wittels, the show’s co-executive producer, writer, and guest star who died last week of an apparent overdose. The 30-year-old, who had a long struggled with sobriety, appeared on screen on the show as a former employee of the Pawnee Animal Control Department, and as a comedian, he coined the phrase “humblebrag,” which refers to false modesty.
