Kickstarter Spotlight: The Aggregate
  |

Back in December, I did a Patreon Spotlight for Ben Bishop‘s (The Lost Trail: Nine Days Alone in the Wilderness, Nathan the Caveman) post apocalyptic graphic novel, The Aggregate. Bishop invites us to imagine “if all the Power Rangers were evil, and they wanted to use their Megazord to wipe out most of the people on Earth, and Mad Max was a girl, AND he fell in love with the Red Ranger”¦” Doesn’t this sound amazing?

Recently, the artist and author decided to utilize Kickstarter as the platform to make this book happen. One of the first “choose your own adventure” style graphic novels – or as Bishop calls it, “Split Decision Comics” – the Kickstarter opened up yesterday morning, and has already exceeded its $10,000 goal! But with 28 days left in the campaign, there are still plenty of opportunities to support this endeavor — including pushing the project up to its second goal of $20,000, allowing Bishop to offer the book in full color.

DESCRIPTION:

The Aggregate is a post-apocalyptic “choose your own adventure” graphic novel. The story follows a mysteriously young woman named Valerius, who has spent the last 1,000 years keeping 5 genetically engineered individuals (the OTAs) away from their giant, robot killing-machine. However, she now finds herself leading one of them, “The Man,” right to it.

1,000 years ago, a machine was built by our very own government to wipe out more than half of the planet’s population. It was called, The Aggregate. A massive 800 foot tall robot piloted, and powered by 5 individuals, “The OTAs.”

But The Aggregate never powered on. The OTAs were stopped by a group of rebels known as “The Light,” and the world was saved; for the time being … From that day forward, The Light, led by a young woman named Valerius, took it upon themselves to watch over the 5 OTAs who remained in a kind of sleep mode. Valerius vowed that if they ever were to wake, she would do whatever was necessary to keep them from finishing what they started.

The OTAs slept as the over growing population of the world caused it to crumble around them. They slept as those few who were left began to rebuild and start over. For a millennium they slept … then last night they woke up and headed for The Aggregate. All but one … “The Man.”

So why then, after all this time, with all that’s at stake, does Valerius now find herself on the opposite side, fighting against The Light and leading The Man to the very place she’s spent her entire life keeping him from?

How could she risk everything on the chance that he’s different, and what if she’s wrong? With the other OTAs more powerful than ever, The Light can’t stop them, only he can … Of course that’s his choice to make, she’s just here to help show him the way … AND SO CAN YOU.

The rewards for helping fund The Aggregate are extremely enticing: limited edition variant covers; guest artist originals and prints from top illustrators Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night), Mateus Santolouco (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Kristian Donaldson (DMZ), and others; your cat as an “Aggre-cat” within the book; a portfolio review from former Marvel talent director Bon Alimagno; a script critique from professional comics and game writer, Alex Irvine; and many more!
