‘Game Of Thrones’ Maisie Williams To Guest On ‘Doctor Who’
  |  @   |

Geeks should already be familiar with the name Maisie Williams. She appears as Arya Stark on this little HBO show called Game of Thrones. Now, to further solidify her name in the geek community she will take a little trip over to BBC where she will have a guest starring role on Doctor Who.

Now I am not an avid watcher of the show, but this is pretty big news for fans of the immensely popular British series, which has built a massive worldwide fanbase. Hit the jump to see what Williams and series executive producer and writer Steven Moffat (Sherlock) had to say about the guest starring role.

The 17-year-old, three-time Screen Actors Guild Award nominee couldn’t contain her excitement when it was announced that she would appear in an episode.

“I’m so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture. I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.”

Moffat shared her enthusiasm, but was also guarded on her role in the upcoming season.

“We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”

No word yet on which episode she will appear in or when it will air, but the image above shows the young actress inside the TARDIS, the Doctor’s time-traveling vehicle. Season 9 of Doctor Who is set to begin airing this Fall. Last month, it was revealed that Michelle Gomez would be returning to the show as Missy, the latest incarnation of the Doctor’s nemesis, the Master.

Williams, in the meantime, will be seen on the small screen real soon when Game Of Thrones begins its fifth season next month.
