G.I. Joe #7 continues the story of Cobra versus a group of renegades with what’s left of the G.I. Joe team literally caught in the middle. This book is way more than “good guys vs. bad guys,” it’s almost a political thriller mashed-up with an action movie. If you’re looking for the colorful garb of the Joes or Cobras, you won’t find any of that here.

Writer Karen Traviss continues the story of G.I. Joe as we’ve never seen them before. This is the G.I. Joe team in the real world. As I said, no crazy colored costumes, everyone is pretty much wearing suits or realistic looking military fatigues. This story, entitled “The Fall of G.I. Joe,” is sure staying true to its title. I can’t imagine things getting any worse for the Joe team, but I have a feeling it’s going to. This is a really exciting military suspense book, with a super intriguing story that’s a lot of fun to follow and speculate on.

Steve Kurth puts out another fantastic looking book. It’s business as usual for Kurth, and business is good. He gives us a very real looking Joe book, there’s isn’t even any of the borderline sci-fi weapons and gadgets that we’re used to in Joe comics. There’s not a ton of action in this book, it’s mostly talking head pages and some pages of foot chases, but Kurth makes them just as exciting as if they were the outrageous action that G.I. Joe is famous for.

This issue will have you on the edge of your seat, I promise. While this series has been quite different from the G.I. Joe that we’re used to, it’s a crazy ride of military realism that you’re going to enjoy!
