This was ultimately a great episode, with a few minor details for discussion. But before we talk about Arrow 3.19 “Broken Arrow, let’s recap what happened two weeks ago on Arrow 3.18 “Public Enemy”.

The mayor is dead and Ray (Brandon Routh) is looking at a bad prognosis after that showdown last week. He happens to have the nanotechnology to fix himself, but the doctor will not participate in anything experimental. Donna Smoak (Charlotte Ross) slinks in and distracts the doctor so Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) can inject Ray. All better!

Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable) blew up Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) spot by revealing to Lance (Paul Blackthorne) that Oliver Queen is the Arrow. It is gloves off as Lance takes this super personal, tells the whole world, and organizes a massive manhunt.

In the flashbacks, Oliver runs into Shado’s twin May (Keri Adams – and really?). We still don’t know what happened to everyone back then and why this is all really happening.

Oliver turns himself in. And then Roy (Colton Haynes) turns himself in – as the Arrow.

Proceeding any further will result in spoilers for 3.19 “Broken Arrow.”

Arrow 3.19 “Broken Arrow” review: Roy confessed to being the Arrow for two reasons. He wants to save Oliver’s life. Roy wants to pay for killing a cop, even though he was dosed and didn’t realize it. He feels right doing this. Laurel (Katie Cassidy) forced her father to free Oliver. I understand that someone else confessed so that means Oliver could not have done it, but there are a couple of little (maybe a lot) of inconsistencies. Oliver also turned himself in – just like Roy. So why just let Oliver go and not Roy? Also – Oliver made a deal to protect his team and usually deals come with signed papers. It was after the fact that Lance searched the basement and the evidence came out pointing only towards Roy, thanks to Felicity. And everyone was saying that he was going overboard going after Oliver when it was Roy. Seems like he was just doing his job, no matter the anger behind it.

The flashbacks show Oliver running into a wounded Amanda Waller who… lets him go? I used to really dig the flashbacks but now I’m waiting for the big reveal. I want to know where Maseo and Tatsu’s (Rila Fukushima) son is. Is he alive? Dead? Being held somewhere? I know they are separated, but that’s all I know.

There is a villain of the day – Deathbolt (Doug Jones), who can shoot radiation out of his eyes. He was creepy and cool and threatening Felicity. Oliver and Ray had to do another team up complete with Oliver’s sullen high fives to Ray’s enthusiastic ones, which is super adorable. Then they play puppetmaster as Oliver virtually controls the Atom suit with Ray in it. Kinda cool. Deathbolt was a metahuman which means Star Labs jail and a Cisco (Carlos Valdes) appearance. Yay! I love that Ray asked what we are all thinking about food and the bathroom in the lockup. They also discover that Deathbolt was nowhere around during the particle accelerator explosion. What the?

Roy fighting the other inmates with Arrow grudges was excellent. And the shock at the end was quickly replaced with relief at the plan enacted unbeknownst to Oliver. I’ll talk about the tiny thing that bothers me about that next week.

The other shock at the end – is the that will force Oliver’s hand once again. For more news about this episode, check out “˜Arrow’ 3.19 “Broken Arrow” Spoilers: Saying Goodbye.

Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8pm ET on The CW. Four episodes left in the season!
