“What ever happened to predictability? The milkman, the paperboy, and evening TV?”
Well… while you can certainly predict the success of TV, it does not necessarily have to be in the evening anymore. John Stamos gave Jimmy Kimmel the exclusive news on Jimmy Kimmel Live – Full House is coming back! The actor received the news “literally five minutes” before he went on air.
Watch the announcement video below.
Stamos: “It starts sort of as a reunion, and then spins off into this um… like a spinoff.”
The spinoff part starts with DJ (Candace Cameron Bure), who is a widow with two boys and one on the way, living in the original house. Jodi Sweetin and Andrea Barber are already signed on to reprise their roles as Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibbler, respectively. Stamos returns as Uncle Jesse and will have a recurring guest role. He says they are trying to get Bob Saget and the Olsen twins at least for the first hour-long special.
Stamos: “If we can’t get the Olsen twins, we’re gonna dress you up.”
Kimmel: “I would definitely play the Olsen twins, there’s no question about it. Yeah.”
After batting around the idea for years, and really “wanted to give credit to the legacy,” Netflix ordered 13 episodes of Fuller House set to air in 2016.
Executive producers Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller and Jeff Franklin made this statement:
“The continued support of “˜Full House’ fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring “˜Full House’ back to life.”
