‘Ted 2’ Red Band Trailer: Smoking Weed, Getting Drunk, Stealing Tom Brady’s Sperm
  |  @   |

Universal Pictures has released a new red band trailer for Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted 2. Mark Wahlberg returns as John, a hedonistic weed-smoking everyday man who happens to be best friends with his living breathing childhood teddy bear, Ted (voiced by MacFarlane). In the sequel, Ted is unable to start a new family because the law sees him as property, so he and John must work together to identify Ted as a person.

Since this is a red brand trailer, its probably best to play it with some headphones on, unless your office space doesn’t mind profanity or references to drug use.

Hit the jump to see the latest red band trailer for Ted 2.

Now this trailer doesn’t offer much in terms of plot. We already got most of it through the first trailer. That being said, it is still pretty funny to watch MacFarlane let loose, and not be constrained to the FCC like he is on Family Guy.

However, there is a small caveat. Because this is a comedy sequel, there are expectations not to be repetitive, and there are a lot of plot devices and references that almost makes me think that a lot of what we will see in the sequel have material that edited out of the first Ted script. But so much of what made the first film so funny looks to be revisited in the Ted 2. John and Ted get high, they like porn, they get drunk, they can be a public nuisance. That was funny the first time around, but can MacFarlane make it work a second time is the bigger question.

The film also stars Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Giovanni Ribisi, John Slattery, and Morgan Freeman. Universal will release the film on June 26.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Seth MacFarlane returns as writer, director and voice star of Ted 2, Universal and Media Rights Capital’s follow-up to the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. Joined once again by star Mark Wahlberg and fellow Ted writers Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, MacFarlane produces the live action/CG-animated comedy alongside Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber, as well as John Jacobs and Jason Clark.
