Last week’s Louie gave us the always welcome gift of guest star Michael Rapaport. This week we get the return of Robert Kelly. Awesome two weeks!
Definitely a couple of spoilers below!
Louie 5.4 “Bobby’s House” is a classic Louie episode, filled with awkward silence, utter humiliation, and laughter at Louie’s pain. Louie (Louis C.K.) gets a call from his brother Bobby asking if he’s going to their uncle’s wake. Louie did not know about it – with good reason. Their uncle did not die, and they ended up at the wrong funeral. They are so far in, they can’t back out of it, so they pay their respects.
Funny – Bobby goes to kneel and make the sign of the cross at the stranger’s funeral. Is it weird to find a funeral scene funny?
Afterward, although Louie makes lame, obviously fake excuses, he has no choice but to go see his brother’s place. Silence. Then his brother tells him he should help him out because he has nothing. Louis C.K. turns uncomfortable into an art form.
The episode starts out kinda shitty for him and goes downhill from there. While still really funny, he banks on himself being a schlub who gets in one mess after another, as the constant theme.
The rest includes getting the shit kicked out of him (wait til you see by who), getting a makeover, being laughed at (not with) by no less than four people, then having his heart chewed up and trashed.
For the above sentence alone, you should be tuning in. Poor schlubby Louie!
Louie airs Thursday nights at 10:30pm ET on FX.
